Parenting Coordinating may lead to better outcomes for the children

Dr. Marla Reis has become certified (qualified) as a Parenting Coordinator in the State of Florida.

Dr. Marla’s interest in becoming a Parenting Coordinator arose out of her passion and commitment toward creating great, intimate marriages. While writing her dissertation during her doctoral program at the University of Miami, Dr. Marla studied engaged couples’ idealistic expectations and their effect on marriage. She has since developed the Intimacy Prenup™ to help couples identify and express their expectations in relationship in a meaningful, productive way.

Upon completing graduate school in the early 90s, Dr. Marla entered into a psychology internship at Nova Southeastern University, during which she specialized in working with children with serious mental health issues. This work naturally included extensive parenting planning and coordinating with the children’s parents, and it was here that she saw firsthand the importance of parental collaboration to the healthy growth and development of the children.

After entering private practice, Dr. Marla continued working with children within the broader framework of the family system and also gravitated toward working specifically with the parents – married or divorced – who were often in conflict about how to best address the needs of their children. As a result of that work, she has been privileged to help guide parents to a place of collaboration in their parenting, as well as benefit extended family relationships through this collaboration.

Dr. Marla offers Parenting Coordination services along with traditional marriage and family counseling (marriage reunification, conscious uncoupling) in Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton and Miami.
